Obligations[]

An ascetic character made a vow of poverty. He has no possesion on his own, but often depends on an organisation which furnish them with the minimum ( one tunic, sandals, pounch and a staff) or live on the nature. If he needs something, he had to go begging for ot. He does receive his part of the treasure, but give it to those who live in a non-chosen poverty, directly or through his organisation.

An ascetic character can use very little weapons : he is limited to non-masterwork Club, Morningstar, Quarterstaff or Sling ( and Bullet). He carries no armor and no shield, neither a magical item with a given place on the body.

An ascetic character can "possess" and use any object given by a class feature, like a Legendary weapon ( or shield) ora Fellow creature, as he is not their owner but their keeper. A Wizard can use the magical objects he creates or give them to an ascetic character to use, but only for those who do not have a continual effect : Scrolls, Wands... A Ascetic character can use an expensive component for spells, but not for his own use.

If an ascetic character break one of these rules, or carries gear and gold for a total of more than 100GP for more than one hour in a day, he loses all his bonus features and is the subject of a Curse, with no save. Even if he get rid of it with a Remove curse or Penitency, he will not be able to make another Vow of Poverty after that. An ascetic character is likely to let another one carry his part of the treasure until he can make a good use of it.
